Neococo Collective is a women-led organization based in Los Angeles, dedicated to tackling the global issue of displacement by offering refugee, immigrant, and otherwise displaced women a genuine pathway to economic independence and community integration. More than a business, Neococo operates on a profound belief: that when women are given the tools, training, and trust, they can achieve transformative change, both in their own lives and within their new communities.
The Collective’s mission is centered on empowerment through creativity, community, and opportunity. They recognize the inherent skills, talent, and immense resilience women carry with them across borders. Every product created by Neococo Collective tells a story of survival and rebuilding, with every stitch serving as a measurable step toward stability and purpose.

Designing for Dignity and Independence
Neococo Collective achieves its mission by providing trauma-informed, culturally grounded programs focused on textile arts. This involves hands-on training in skills such as embroidery, knitting, crochet, and weaving. The resulting products—which include apparel, accessories, baby goods, and home decor—are all handcrafted by women navigating the complex challenges of resettlement. Every purchase directly funds their journey toward self-sufficiency and leadership.
The organization structures its support through distinct initiatives:
- The Neococo Empowerment Program: This is a paid training and employment initiative designed with flexibility, language support, and family care in mind, providing dignified work opportunities.
- The Neococo Funding Program: A micro-grant and coaching initiative that helps participants develop entrepreneurial ideas into small businesses through mentorship and financial literacy training.
- Wraparound Services: Beyond employment, Neococo offers comprehensive support, including childcare, language classes, and financial coaching, meeting women where they are in their resettlement process.

Community and Future
Founded by Amrita Thadani, Neococo views itself as part of a solution to a massive global humanitarian challenge. The organization actively partners with critical support agencies, including the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Program for Torture Victims (PTV), to maximize its positive impact.
By combining creativity, commerce, and community, Neococo Collective not only offers beautiful, meaningful products but also creates a space for women to reclaim their narratives and lead with confidence, pride, and agency. It is a powerful model of “Design for Good,” proving that a commitment to social justice can be woven directly into the fabric of a sustainable enterprise.
